Our studio was engaged to create a concept café in a dark and enclosed industrial storage room. Our solution was to bust open the roof, creating a light-filled space. A huge, steel, cantilevered awning provides dappled light across the polished concrete and bluestone floor. The interior design has kept aspects of the venue’s manufacturing history; bare stone walls and milled railway sleepers remain intact. A leafy courtyard breathes life into the industrial space.
A local Sydney artist was commissioned to create an artwork for the wall which speaks to the buildings previous tenants a stocking manufacturer who believed, like we do, that quality is woven into every thread.
Listed as one of Sydney's best new Interiors of 2016 by Broadsheet Sydney.
